Does Firewalla works with Amplifi?
-
Due to the lack in parenting functions in amplifi (like simple blocking porn sides) i searching for a simple solution to cover this and found firewalla. Does anybody have experience if firewalla works with amplifi?

firewalla
This looks like it will work based on the compatible routers:
https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004259853-Router-Compatibility
Keep in mind that if you want to use the DHCP mode, you will not be able to disable DHCP on the Amplifi Router and will have to use simple mode on the Firewalla. I have not updated my firmware, so I don't know if that was a feature that has been added.

@markus-sattlegger you can use opendns for filtering. Have you taken a look at their features?

Thanks both for the feedback. I know this compatibility list, unfortunately amplifi is not listed as tested positive. Yes, I currently also use opendns. To block certain internet contents it's fine. But firewalla can also block games/social media/... in general for certain times or notify me as a parent. I don't know if it works as expected, but it sound good.

for those who are interested - Firewalla works with amplifi - just tried simple mode (standard), but I guess it will also work in dcph mode.

Hello,
Amplifi HD is now marked as "
Not Compatible": https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009401874-Router-Compatibility
Also, note says "Starting Firmware version 3.3.0, need to keep the network unchanged" : https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021737793#h_ea3b3434-672b-4c44-9f8f-9033db9f1cc1
What does this mean???I’ve been running Firewalla Blue for over 1 year with Amplifi HD (simple mode) and it’s been working fine all the time.
My Amplifi HD is running firmware 3.4.1.
Firewalla Blue version firmware is 1.966 (stable).Anybody knows why Amplifi HD went from "compatible" to "not compatible"?

@bellamybj Thank you for bringing this to everyones attention. The list of compatibility is provided by Firewalla, so we are not sure exactly why this has been changed and it may be worth inquiring with Firewalla.
According to the compatibility sheet you provided, it is because of the lack of disabling DHCP functionality. This can be configured within AmpliFi with Bridge Mode, but since that disables more than just DHCP I wonder if they have that marked as a limitation for that reason.

I had been using firewalla gold in router mode (AMPLIFI in bridge) when I was using the HD, but I have a client that uses the firewalla blue still, and that seems to be functioning just fine yet with their HD systems. I have the firewalla gold on the Alien currently, and also, no issues.
