Max Speed 92Mbp
-
Hi,
I recently just bought a Amplifi Mesh system.. I have my main computer hardwired into the router, and I am getting a maximum speed of 92Mbps... I have gigabit speed through consolidated and my nighthawk was getting 10x those speeds hardwired.. 900 Mbps.. Is there a throttle on the mesh router or some setting that needs to change?

Hello @nick-montano ,
We have a specific setting in our smartphone app that is designed specifically for gigabit speed users. Go into the router settings using the smartphone app. Go into the "Internet" settings and toggle ON "Hardware NAT". This toggle requires some time to implement once toggled ON.
After toggling and giving the feature some time to take effect, please perform additional speed tests.

@ubnt-jack - Hardware NAT setting is not available in Bridge Mode. I thought bridge mode was required for 1GB connections?

Hello @rakesh-gupta ,
Bridge mode has always been a great troubleshooting step to help improve performance for gigabit users but has never been "required". Worth trying the "Hardware NAT"toggle when dealing with slow performance issues through a gigabit connection.
Great input though! Let me know if I can answer any additional questions that you may have!

@rakesh-gupta bridge mode disables routing and puts the device into an access point mode, Nat is only available when the device is used as a router.
Also make sure that your modem is in bridge mode and that you are using a cat 6 cable.

@edward-dolezal - Thanks. Unfortunately, my modem is AT&T and putting it in "bridge" mode is apparently not supported. I get full throughput (~950 Mbps) when connected to my Amplifi HD via ethernet, so cables are fine.

@rakesh-gupta is it possible to replace the modem with a third party one?
I know that my Optus or Singtel Optus modem can be bridged but you have to get into the hidden config menu.

@edward-dolezal - unfortunately, I cannot replace the AT&T modem with a 3rd party one. It provides VOIP as well as TV services.

@rakesh-gupta I would use the AmpliFi in Bridge mode in your configuration. This should give you the best performance. The AT&T modem will do the routing and DHCP.
Alas, you lose some of the control features available on the AmpliFi router.
