UniFi® Security Gateway - Anyone use one in their home network?
-
I appreciate that this maybe a little overkill for a home network but I would like to have more control over the firewall than the Amplifi HD gives me. Will it work in conjunction and can the HD firewall be turned off to solely work with the USG ?
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

@tim-sparling-0 Sure, just set the Amplifi HD in bridge mode and let the USG handle the firewall, QoS, and DHCP.
-
Will this cause a double NAT scenario do you think or will the bridge mode get round this ?
-
@tim-sparling-0 Not at all, the Amplifi HD will work as an Access Point in bridge mode, meaning no double NAT, all IP requests will be handled by the USG. Download the Amplifi app, double click on the router icon to get into Configure Router menu then click on "Internet", switch the slider to ON for bridge mode and you're done. Enjoy your USG, I can't not afford one yet, I'm using an EdgeRouteX for now.

Don't you lose functionality on the amplifi HD router in bridge mode? Is the trade off worth it to install the security gateway?

Opted for the EdgeRouter 6p in the end. Will pop the Amplifi HD in bridge mode to provide the WIFI coverage as it has been excellent at that so far.
