What with internet speed?
-
Hi.
I want to try new 700Mbit/s internet connection in my new home. And i need new wi-fi router with gigabit ports for it. i want to connect my PC and PS4 through LAN port and other devices (like MBP, smartphones, etc.) through WI-FI. Will AmpliFi work for me? And what speed i will see on LAN and on WI-FI?
Thanks in advance.

@alexander-petrov You will receive the full 700mbps wired, over WiFi it depends heavily on your area and the interference locally. AmpliFi wireless speeds are capped around 550 mbps.

@ubnt-jt Oh, it's nice.
I think i'll buy it, thanks)

@alexander-petrov Great! If you have more questions reach out to me, hope you enjoy the new AmpliFi.

Hi @UBNT-JT - what is limiting the speeds to 550 mbps?
I thought the supported data rates went up to 1300... "802.11ac 13 Mbps to 1300 Mbps (MCS0 - MCS9, VHT 20/40/80)"
-
@derek-saville There are many factors to the limitations of current wireless speeds. Any router is going to have issues delivering gig speeds over wireless.
-
Hi @ubnt-jt - agreed, but it has never been reported before that AmpliFi is capped at 550 mbps
That could come as quite a surprise to many considering the technical specifications state 802.11ac MCS9 3 streams w/ 80Mhz channels...Is this a software cap or a hardware limitation?
-
@derek-saville To clarify, I would say not a cap but a current technical limitation we are always seeking to improve. What I mean is I have never seen wireless performance above this.

@ubnt-jt you're walking on a slippery land in here, my friend
