Netgear Nighthawk as AP?
-
Can I use an old Netgear Nighthawk as an AP using wired backhaul? I figure the Netgear won’t show up on my AmpliFi app as a registered AP but it might still work anyway. Does anyone have experience setting up something like this and would it work?
Thanks

Oops I posted under the wrong topic sorry about that.

@kerry-oaborne there is an ap mode in the night hawk if I remember correctly, it's just had to be set up on the guidelines.

@edward-dolezal yes it does have an AP mode in the settings. I might as well try it and see if it works. I just need to run a few wires. Thanks.

@kerry-oaborne no problem

@kerry-oaborne You may be able to configure the Nighthawk in bridge mode? Are you facing deadspots in your home, or are you wanting to use the Nighthawk for other reasons?

@ubnt-brett yes. My AmpliFi router is in the attic, my mesh points are on the middle floor and my basement has dead spots. So I was hoping to use that old Netgear in the basement.

If you're already planning on running wires, would you not be able to place your AmpliFi router on the middle floor and then two mesh points at opposite ends of the middle floor for full house coverage? That would probably be the optimal setup.

@shane-milton I haven't thought of that. I'll try it. Thanks
