AmpliFi Instant as Mesh Point
-
I own an AFI-R that is used as my router. Connected to this, I have an AFi-INS-R configured as a mesh point. This works fine. Now I have purchased an AFi-INS (router + mesh point) and am trying to use these as mesh points together with the AFI-R. According to the compatibility chart on https://help.amplifi.com/hc/en-us/articles/235807288-Which-AmpliFi-model-is-best-for-my-home- this should work, but all I get is an error message when I try to add the AFi-INS.

Hi @bertie-müller - I would say they are only "compatible" if your reconfigure your network so that the Instant Router from the AFi-INS System is the primary router of the mesh
So while technically accurate, the chart does not explain in enough detail the requirements
There should be a footnote #3 that states that the router from the system must be the primary routerYou cannot add a system kit to an existing mesh network
Consider carefully if you want to do this because the Instant routers do not have some features, like QoS and HW NAT

@bertie-müller I am sorry for the confusion, I will be modifying the compatibility guide to better clarify but @Derek-Saville is correct. They are compatible, however the kit router must be in the primary position.
