3.1.0 issues with HomeKit
-
After installing 3.1.0 some of my HomeKit devices are no longer online. It all worked just fine with 3.0.1 and older. After rebooting the AMPLIFI router it all works well for a day and the issue happens all over again.
-
@mark-miller did you notice other devices loosing Wifi connection?
-
I’m having the same issue. After the update a bunch of my HomeKit switches (iDevices and Leviton) stopped working. Resetting and reconnecting a switch will bring it back online for a few minutes. and then it will lose its connection again.
-
@virgil-nicolae I have not noticed if other devices are affected.
But it is always the same HomeKit devices: Chamberlain garage door bridge, Rachio sprinkler control, Ecobee thermostat, and iDevices outlet switches. The Hue bridge and lights always seem to work fine.

Maybe related to https://community.amplifi.com/topic/2012/2-4ghz-isn-t-functional/9 ?

@mark-miller You can roll back your Firmware to the previous version and test again to confirm it was the 3.1.0 update. Can you please gather support files before rolling back so we can analyze them to see what exactly is happening.
-
@mark-miller I've got a Chamberlain bridge, and Rachio sprinkler and am seeing no issues with 3.1.0
-
@gary-menszyk Well, it happened again last Thursday when I was trying to leave for work. Stuck in my garage, I rebooted the router and they all started working again. Unfortunately I did not have time to capture any logs.
-
@mark-miller One thing I did see was that the Rachio had been connecting with a decent signal at 5GHz but now is defaulting to 2.4.
Update... I think this was a case of having Band Steering enabled before and then disabled. With it enabled the Rachio is connecting at 5 GHz with a 61% signal versus 71% for 2.4 GHz.

This issue happened again this morning when I was trying to leave for work.
Same conclusion: Stuck in my garage, I rebooted the router and they all started working again. Unfortunately I did not have time to capture any logs.
I hope this issue will reproduce during a more ideal situation.

@mark-miller As much as we need support files to help us identify whats going on, I hate to see you keep getting stuck in your garage each morning it happens! Did this function normally on a prior firmware? I can help you roll everything if thats the case. Also, have you generated an additional SSID that is 2.4GHz only and connected your devices to that network? Some devices struggle with dual band networks and this may be a quick solution for the time being.
-
@ui-brett Thanks, Brett. It was working fine with 3.0.1 and older. The 3.1.0 release was the first time I have encountered this issue and I have been using this product since it was launched several years ago. I have not created a separate SSID for 2.4Ghz networks, either. I might roll back but I really want to capture some logs. I can hopefully catch it before it happens in the morning.
-
@mark-miller Thank you for sticking it out for us!
-
Hey, Brett. It happened again. I have sent you logs via email.
-
I’m also experiencing a lot of problems since 3.1.0 especially with the philips hue lights, sensors and dimmer switches. Hope it is fixed with the 3.1.1. Update otherwise I need to downgrade.
-
@mark-miller I got the email, thank you! Ill report the findings here
-
@stef-martens Please let me know if 3.1.1 corrects this issue for you, and if not I can help you roll back to a firmware that does. What exactly are some of the problems you are seeing with those products?
-
@ui-brett will do! Seems like the lights loose connection at random moments, also the movement sensors are detecting movement and the lights react very slow (30sec). Called with hue support and they suggest that it could be my connection during streaming big files but this wasn’t the case. Nanoleaf Aurora also experiences latency every now and then since the 3.1.0. Update. Before the update everything worked perfectly fine for over a year, since the installation of the AMPLIFI.
Also all the other (mostly wired) devices haven’t got any issues.
-
@UI-Brett unfortunately I’ve just experienced the same problems connecting to the hue lights (and very slow reaction) with 3.1.1.

@stef-martens Thank you for the update. Lets generate a support file from 3.1.1 (if you use the app to generate the support files it will directly email it to our support team) In the email can you include the MAC ID's of the devices or the IP addresses so I can easily identify the devices that are disconnecting. Then ill PM you links and instructions for downgrading to 3.0.0 (if thats the FW that was stable for these products)
