Best (cheapest) recommendation for ethernet connection on mesh endpoint
-
I recently got the AmpliFi HD for my apartment. Wi-Fi coverage is good with no additional antennas.
However, I have a couple of ethernet-only devices that I want to keep hidden away on a shelf in a closet. I can't make holes in walls and there's no easy way to run a wire to the AmpliFi HD.
What's the best way to get a mesh endpoint with an ethernet connector?

@robert-stoeber I use these little bad boys:

@robert-stoeber You can use the the AmpliFi instant router as a MeshPoint and utilize the LAN port.

@robert-stoeber or the AmpliFi HD stand alone router can be added as a wireless meshpoint, and the LAN ports will be live, giving you 4 connections.

Thanks. I had read that I could add another AmpliFi HD as a mesh endpoint, but that’s expensive.
Somewhere in these forums someone said that the Instant router could not be used that way, but maybe that was old information. I’ll investigate that further.
I’m surprised there isn’t a plug-in-the-wall mesh antenna with an Ethernet port.

Yeah, the closest thing to that AmpliFi do is the Instant MeshPoint (not router) but those are not even available separately unfortunately, only as part of the Instant kit.

Still researching this issue and I'm confused. If you look up the information about the AmpliFi Instant Router you can buy it for $99. All of the information I've seen about that router says:
"The Router provides excellent coverage for standard-sized homes of approximately 2,000 sq ft. Expand as needed by adding MeshPoints to your mesh Wi-Fi system."
So if I bought this router and then discover I have a dead spot in the basement, where do I get the MeshPoints? Likewise, if I bought the AmpliFi Instant System for $179 it comes with the router and one MeshPoint. What if I need a second MeshPoint? Where do I get it?

@robert-stoeber You can purchase a standalone MeshPoint (AFI-P-HD) and pair it to the instant, we do not have the instant MeshPoints for inividual sale.
-
@robert-stoeber You can also purchase any AmpliFi stand alone product and add them as a mesh point, including a second AmpliFi Instant router (AFI-INS).
-
@robert-stoeber If your wifi coverage is as good as you have stated and your are only needing to have a wired bridge to connect to an ethernet-only device nearer to you mesh point and also wanting the "cheapest" option then I cannot understand why you do not try one of the cheapo bridge deviced rather than splashing more money on what appears to be an over-specced device for your needs.

Yes, @Ali-Hadi that is probably what I will do. I was just assuming that there would be a product in the AmpliFi family to serve that purpose, so I wanted to check on that before buying a different brand.
