Pairing meshpoints with a different router
-
Hello,
I run an ISP and often resell the AmplifiHD router to my customers. I've run into a scenario where I'm unable to pair some mesh points with a different router. I believe the MPs in question were purchased as a bundle with a different router (as a kit with 2 MPs and router). Is it possible to reset them so that I can use them with a different router?
Thanks
Ryan

@ryan-scott Unfortunately this is a trap that I had fallen into (in a big way) having initially bought two HD kits thinking that I could merge them together and was bittelry disappointed to discover that this would be impossible to do and that there is no way to get these bundles or their individual components to talk to each other.

So if I brick the router out of warranty and buy another, my 2 mesh points are now useless.

@phillip-cronan I am afraid that is absolutely correct.

That too is my understanding. Maybe all of us with kit under warranty, who were not warned of this by the retailer, should either return it for a refund, or in exchange for "un locked" kit.
With the benefit of hindsight I would have bought 3 HD Routers rather than the kit of one plus 2 mesh points.

@nigel-steward indeed... i wish we can have a way to unlock them. i doubt the protection is donz at the hardware level

late to this, but that is absolutely crazy that this cannot be done.
