Hello Manisha.
James Harty 4:52:35 PM
Hi, its a pleasure to have you on chat. How may I assist you today?
Manisha 4:52:43 PM
Are you familiar with IPV6?
James Harty 4:52:46 PM
Yes.
Manisha 4:53:20 PM
What would you like to know?
Manisha 4:53:50 PM
OK. I'm using my own cable modem, Arris Surfboard SB8200. Its connected to the Ubiquity Amplifi router. I have a 1GB service plan.
James Harty 4:54:17 PM
there is a slider in the router to switch from IPV4 to IPV6. When I switch to IPV6 my Xfinity service gets extremely unstable.
James Harty 4:55:20 PM
it still works, just not well.
James Harty 4:55:34 PM
Yes, I got your concern. However, a Xfinity modem and all Xfinity compatible modems supports Ipv4 and Ipv6 addressing. As a most of the time we always work on Ipv4 modem so, the Ipv6 does not have a strong bandwidth for now.
Manisha 4:57:46 PM
In case of future a Ipv6 availability and bandwidth will be increased.
Manisha 4:58:39 PM
Particularly, in today scenario we will work on Ipv4 addressing.
Manisha 4:59:17 PM
i own all my equipment. Is this an issue with the Xfinity equipment upstream of the customers?
James Harty 4:59:25 PM
there is a lot of forum discussion saying Xfinity even requires IPV6 or it doesn't guarantee packet stability.
James Harty 5:00:49 PM
I completely relate to your concern however, as of now as per the availably of the network and routes. Xfinity broadly work on Ipv4 address.
