Mesh Points do not connect

I purchased a Ubiquiti Amplifi 4-Ports Home Wi-Fi System AFI HD Wireless Router which contained 2 Mesh Points.
I also purchased 2 Extra Mesh Points that used to be part an old system of the above.
The 2 extra mesh points do not connect why... Is it locked down? How can i get it to work? If i return the mesh kit system and buy as all stand alone seperates would that solve it?
