Use LAN ports the second Alien Router acting as a Mesh Point
-
I'd like to use 2 Alien routers. One as main router while use the LAN ports and using the other router as a wired backhaul mesh point. On the second router acting as a mesh point, can I use the LAN ports on that unit as well? We have a printer that needs wired in directly that is located near the 2nd Alien Router that will be a wired backhaul. Our backup option is to use that wire currently ran across the building to directly plug into the printer and just mesh the routers wirelessly, but since we have the single cable ran, it's make more sense to use a wired backhaul.

Yes you can! LAN ports will be active on the second AmpliFi Alien if it is configured as a mesh point wirelessly and wired with ethernet backhaul enabled.

@ui-brett And to be clear, you are saying that the LAN ports will work in EITHER scenario? Meaning it will work if it have them only set up wirelessly only AND it will work if it have it set up in a wired backhaul situation?

@brice-milleson How big of an area are you trying to cover that you need two?

Same configuration that I use. My backhaul alien on the first floor connected to the main Alien. Using the Ethernet port on the backhaul alien to connect to my
AppleTV....

@lenard-hood-0 I have one Alien covering 2 floors and 3,000 sq Ft. Zero coverage issues. I dont think you need two. Keep in mind this provides double the coverage of the last gen mesh and thats without mesh.

@timothy-farley It's at least 10,000 sq feet spread over 1 floor. It's very wide with a-lot of walls and interference

@brice-milleson ok, yup you need two.
