Hardware NAT
-
There is a rumor that AmpliFi is beta testing hardware NAT for improved throughput.
Would that require a new hardware revision to the routers?
Or is it unlocking the potential of the existing hardware design?
-
@derek-saville Same hardware. Don't remember if it's available on public firmware (check settings under http://amplifi.lan), but you could join the AmpliFi beta if you want to try it.

Thank you for the feedback - looking forward to the implementation!

How do you join the AmpliFI beta?

Also want to know how to join beta testing

Same here I am very interested in trying the beta. Been testing against my server using iperf and results are OK if I'm connected to the main router. If I'm connected to a mesh point then performance is awful.

@ubnt-gunars would it be possible to see more actions from developers inside forums?
-
@ubnt-gunars please explain exactly what hardware NAT is?
-
It’s hardware accelerated lan to wan routing. Basically means AmpliFi will work better with high speed internet connections like gigabit fibre.

We follow the community closely, and have a pretty good idea about what the concerns are. Currently we're investing a lot of time in product development, so developers are most active in beta sections. Not a lot of feature requests we can work on at the moment, but we'll do a post to vote on what those will be after hardware NAT.

@UBNT-Gunars can you make the beta sections visible for us end users? This is the case for all other Unifi communities. We would love to help trying out new firmware and reporting issues we found. For example: I noticed Amplifi assigns IPs not allocated within the DHCP pool configured under the DHCP server. Kind of weird.

I think we could make the Mesh System Beta public.

Hi all,
Wanted to let you know that we're starting to process the list of potential Teleport beta testers now. Please, let me know if you want to use a different email than in your profile, or if it's not your real name.

Thank you for working on Hardware NAT. It'll be a welcome update for customers who have gigabit internet. The current setup, wired, limits at about 450 megabits and has trouble with full duplex traffic.
