Guest network should allow access to some devices

  • I just configured my new AmpliFI Alien router and it's quite slick. I was a bit surprised to find that the guest network can't be configured to allow access to specific devices on my primary network. This feature would allow guests to use devices such as Chromecast, Sonos, and printers.

Or if there's another trick I'm missing, I'm open to enlightenment.

Re: Granting guest access to some internal devices.

  • The whole point of the guest network is that it is entirely removed from the regular network. This makes is safer to allow internet access to "guests" while not worrying about them accessing things on your secured network.

  • Hi @UI-Brett - what happened to “Friend Network”?

  • That could be a viable alternative as well. A third SSID for "Friend Network".

Basically, I don't want to let my friends onto my main network, but I don't mind them using the Chromecast when they're over or house-sitting
