Reconnecting, updating, and enabling Teleport

  • I have not used my Teleport since a trip to Spain two years ago.
What are the steps to get it reconnected, updated, and working?

  • @Harald-Striepe You will need to reconnect the Teleport to a ETH connection or wirelessly (since it will not be the connection you last used in spain I assume). Then launch the WebUI when connected to the Teleport wireless broadcast (amplifi.lan) and you should be able to update it from there.

After the update, I would suggest resetting the device with a paperclip. Depending on how old of a firmware you were on, this might be needed and it will not remove the original hard pairing to your router, but will prompt you to accept the pairing request from the AmpliFi app when you attempt to create the VPN tunnel once again.

  • @UI-Brett Thanks. Have to try this when I get some time.
I guess the advantage of the hardware solution is:

    • Support for wired hotel connections
    • Multiple wireless clients

Wired hotel connections can still use the AmpliFi Router to Router Teleport, which would also give you multiple wireless client connections, however it cannot connect to a hotel WiFi broadcast like the Teleport hardware can.
