Amplifi Alien memory
-
How much memory does the Alien router have? I don’t see it mentioned anywhere and am curious, especially since other router vendors list that information for their routers. I’ve got my Alien arriving tomorrow morning and can’t wait to start using it.
-
Don’t know but with 52 devices connected mine is using 48% of it according to the LCD
-
@Adam-Hall-0 that’s actually pretty good! My first time getting the Alien router, arriving tomorrow morning; is it pretty quick?
-
The Aliens are easily the fastest and best coverage WiFi I have tried (Google, HD, UniFi and now Aliens).
-
@Adam-Hall-0 I’ve tried Netgear (which I’ll never use again due to poor firmware and hardware of late), Asus, TP-Link, Google, and Eero. Up till now, Eero has been the best, with TP-Link a close second.
-
Well, this makes no sense. Had someone in the Help Chat tell me the Alien only has 128 MB RAM. And the reason it makes no sense is because the drivers for the radios use more than 128 MB RAM. Does anyone know how much RAM is in the Alien router.
-
128 might hold the boot ROM
It’s really weird that they’ve tried very hard to never mention this.
-
@Adam-Hall-0 that makes sense to me.

@UI-JT Do you or your co-workers know the answer to this? How much internal storage and RAM is in the Amplifi Alien?
I work as a network engineer and just received my Alien router, and I can’t find the answer to this seemingly basic question, which has NO answer on your website: How much internal storage and RAM is in the Alien router?
-
@UI-Brett, @UI-Andrey do either of you have an answer to this question? How much internal storage (like a hard drive) and RAM memory (separate from internal storage) does the Alien router have? Been waiting for an answer to this question for more than a week, it’s impossible to believe NONE of you the answer.
By the way, the answer is NOT repeat NOT available on your website anywhere.

Hi @Richard1864 - you can find clear images of the RAM and NAND in the Internal Photos document of the FCC documentation package...
Next to the Qualcomm IPQ8074A SoC are two Micron 4Gbit DDR3 RAM chips with FBGA Code D9SHD = part# MT41K256M16TW-107:P
On the backside of the main PCB is a single Winbond W29N02GZSIBA 2Gbit NAND chipSo that should be 1GB of RAM and 256MB of NAND storage
-
@Derek-Saville thank you very much for that information. Both the geek and networking parts of me were curious about that, especially since none of that information is available on the AMPLIFI website.
-
Hi @Richard1864 - the FCC teardown pics are pretty interesting and the Alien antenna is just insane...
-
@Derek-Saville insane how? I’d love to see the tear down.
-
Hi @Richard1864 - I personally use... https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid
Doing a search for a product's FCC ID, which should always be visible on its label, use...
Grantee Code = SWX
(3 letters for Ubiuiti)Product Code = -AFAR
(include the hyphen and this is the AmpliFi Alien Router)Then you have to look for an Original Equipment application, click on the Detail Exhibit Display link, and wait for the Internal Photos to become available after the confidentiality period has expired, which was on 5//5/2020 for the Alien, 6 months after certification

@Derek-Saville thank you, and wow this router is amazing.
