Amplifi Alien adding another Alien
-
Hi all, quick question I purchased one alien router and I need another one for longer distance. I purchase a Wi-Fi extender but it didn't help out too much.
I was curious if I purchase another alien and mesh or bridge them together will it extended my current network like a Amplifi HD with 2 mesh points? Or will it be similar to a Wi-Fi extender and I would have to add other devices to that mesh point separately and not being on one main network?
Hope this makes sense lol. Thanks in advance!

Hi @3rdeyeUNBLIND - yes, you can install the second Alien as a mesh point (RAMP) and it will extend your current network as one main network, like the 2 mesh points did for the HD

@Derek-Saville And where is the documentation that explains how to do this? I can't believe how hard it is to find clear and concise documentation.

Hi @Jeffery-Hicks - this is the article on the Support page, but the documentation is a little light...
https://help.amplifi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016183893-Adding-AmpliFi-Standalone-Devices-as-Mesh-PointsIf you power up the new standalone Alien in close proximity to your main Alien router you should get an adoption notice on the LCD and/or in the app

I eventually found that article. I just can't believe how hard it was to find. And I think you need to follow the article. I thought I was following the app which has an option to add to a mesh but that process never worked. I eventually got the 2nd Alien router joined as a mesh point.
