Amplifi HD as AP on a Unifi Dream Machine Pro?
-
Hi guys.
Just curious if I can set Amplifi HD to bridge mode and use it as AP on the UDM Pro?
Thanks
Thomas

@MorphyDK AmpliFi can be placed into Bridge Mode and work with any 3rd party equipment.

absolutely you can by using Bridge Mode. It's a different SSID being broadcast, the UDM is just the router, gateway, IPS, DPI etc.
I had this for a while with Aliens.

Thanks for the replies
Appreciated .

@MorphyDK let us know how your setup works!

I will be using this setup for a while until I can get the AP's. Couple follow up questions.
- I have been looking to see if Amplifi HD will allow multiple SSID's in Bridge mode?
- Will the ethernet ports on the back of the HD be able to be used as a managed switch? or just a "Dumb Switch"
Thanks in advance.
If multiple SSIS's is not supported in Bridge mode, I will just have to deal with it until I can get the AP's for the UDM pro.
Thanks

Yes, they will still be connected to the same network, but you can create additional SSID's from each location (Router and MeshPoints)

The HD's LAN ports are not configurable like a managed switch.

@MorphyDK I have been running my Amplifi HD Mesh-system in bridge mode behind my UDM for quite a while. Works great but as mentioned the Amplifi can't extend/mesh a wifi setup in unifi but has to be managed separately. VLAN's, IDS/IPS and all that setup in the UDM will work across the network. Wireless clients connected to the Amplifi wifi will be detetected but shown as wired devices in the unifi interface

Hi Tomas.
Exactly
running the same setup.
Finally got my UDM Pro up and running . Love it
But I dont understand why Ubiquity dont have support for DMZ ?

Hi @MorphyDK and @Tomas-Eriksson,
If you have a UDM, is there any particular reason or advantage to using it behind an Amplifi HD mesh (instead of just getting some access points for the UDM)?
I'm curious because I have amplifi but I am interested in the UDM for VLAN capability. I'm not sure if I should ditch the amplifi system altogether and just have unifi.
Thanks

Hello
I don't use it behind the Aplifi HD, I use the UDM Pro as primary gateway
I use Amplifi HD as a bridge mode wifi for fun . I have a Unifi Nano HD AP which is working with the system
( not with Amplifi HD )

@MorphyDK Do you use the same SSID from the AmpliFi HD as the Nano HD, or are they different. Wondering about how that effects the mesh networking if so. Any drawbacks to this setup so far? Thanks in advance.

@Trent-Rains
Running two different SSID, don't think that mesh will work out with UniFi and Amplifi HD, haven't tried it though, but I don't think they support each other.
