AmpliFi Alien EU router now available!
-
Forget waiting on it to come back to Europe again that will not be happening anytime soon. I would imagine it will come back in 2021.
-
....is that a guess or do you have a reliable source for it? What does @UI-AmpliFi say about this? Can you confirm that?
-
what is the point of waiting till next year ?
if amplifi alien doesnt get released next year
then i will end up buying wifi 6e instead
-
@UI-AmpliFi Can we have an estimate of when it will be available again?
-
@UI-AmpliFi Any news on availability for Europe?!

@UI-AmpliFi Any news on availability for Europe??
Thnx

Same, it's been a bit over 2 months since the initial batch of routers now and my Netgear r8000 isn't getting any less frustrating
-
I have a Time Capsule 1. Generation. I can’t wait anymore 🤯
. Any news? Do we have a happy Christmas?

So first we had to wait a year for the EU version despite the fact that you probably support EU Wifi in your other routers and now we have to wait for it to be produced because it is sold out because the estimated quantity was not enough?
And you cannot at least communicate an estimated date or at least something?

Excellent news. Just ordered so can complete my set up now.
-
@UI-AmpliFi Thanks. Just took the plunge.
-
@Ali-Hadi its dual band but not triband like usa
so its slower
-
@Ahmad-Ki it's probably the same as the USA version unless the USA version has wifi 6e aka 6ghz band which would be news to me.
-
@Edward-Dolezal afaik, it doesn't have the separate WiFi 5 5Ghz band (none of us have that option in the app either)
-
@Raghu-Kannan I checked mine, I see what you mean but wifi 6 is just 5 GHz at 160 MHz, all devices will connect at only the max capabilities of the WiFi they support.
The alien is just missing a 160mhz option which is a tad confusing.
-
@UI-AmpliFi - it would help if you clarified what is meant by "Full Band Wi-Fi 6" to avoid the Dual vs Tri Band nomenclature
My understanding from @UI-Brett was the North America Alien has 4 total radios, with dual aggregated 5.8 GHz AX radios + the one 2.4 GHz AX radio + the additional 5.2 GHz AC radio
And the EU Alien removed the additional 5.2 GHz AC radio implementing Dual Band Simultaneous (5.2 GHz + 5.8 GHz) across the 5 GHz AX radios (now referred to as 'Full Band') and maintains the 16 spatial streams across the 12 pol antenna
So there is no speed loss and no loss of functionality on the EU model other than the ability to have a bespoke AC SSID for backwards compatibility reasons, which in theory should no longer be necessary as Wi-Fi 6 matures
Can you confirm this?

@Derek-Saville Thank you so much for your very helpful contribution (as ever). So is this presumed difference between the US and EU versions software or hardware based? Also if it is software driven, is there a reason why the US firmware could not be installed on the EU version if it is the same hardware?

Am I the only one that keeps seeing the notifications on this thread and thinking it means that some are now In stock , when it just turns out to be an ongoing conversation as to its specification?
