AmpliFi Alien EU router now available!
-
@dmers it looks like the usa version is triband
and the europe version is dual band
this is a deal breaker i wont pay for dual band router anymore and paying more money in australian dollar for less or features missing WTF is this
this is pissed me off so much right now
-
WTF ????
-
Indeed, if you read the description...
It features a dual-band radio with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz 802.11ax radios optimized for Wi-Fi 6 performance and backwards compatibility with previous Wi-Fi standards.
@UI-AmpliFi, can you please explain why?
-
@Keyben85 I had missed that on the page. So it is a 12 stream router as @Derek-Saville had mentioned in a bug thread.
-
@Raghu-Kannan, they just confirmed in the bug thread that it's a 16 stream full band 5Ghz WiFi 6 router.
-
@Raghu-Kannan It supports full 16 spatial streams!
-
@UI-AmpliFi that's good to hear!
-
Sorry mate but this is a bit weird
Triband routers all over the place in australia and europe and worldwide
Why same hardware but dual band ?!
This is doesnt make any sense!!
Can someone clarify if triband routers are illegal in europe because in australia triband routers are available from all companies and offering alien dual band same price same hardware this is misleading
Can someone clarify if the australian version will be dual band or triband?
-
Hi @Ahmad-Ki - the description "full band" 5 GHz with 16 spatial streams implies they still cover both the 5.2 GHz and the 5.8 GHz sub-bands simultaneously
But it would be good to have confirmation from AmpliFi as to what exactly is going on
With the implementation of 6E, even Qualcomm's communication materials now refer to 'Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6' as meaning "simultaneous operation in 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz frequency bands", no longer breaking up 5 GHz into sub-bands
-
Is the us version and europe version will get 160mhz later?
-
@UI-AmpliFi My wallet managed to avoid too bad a battering from the new GPUs. Any idea on an ETA for the next round of EU Aliens? My R8000 is driving me nuts
-
@Sebazy I will update this thread when we have information.
-
@UI-AmpliFi Awesome! Looking forward to it
-
@Ahmad-Ki 160 and WPA 3 are a firmware update away, here in Australia true band routers are a con because it's two 5ghz and one 2.4ghz, proper tri band is 2.4, 5 and 6ghz bands.
Also the USA runs different wifi channels to us here in Australia to use some of the spectrum it requires passing regulations an laws here.
Give it time, btw it's extremely fast, and I love mine.
-
How long for it to be released in Australia ? Eta 2 month to 3 month
-
@Ahmad-Ki probably as soon as they can get enough stock keep in mind alot of the production facilities are under lockdown, and the units sell out fast in the USA and Europe.
-
Hello, when will the Alien Router be available again for Europe / Germany? The shop usually says available again after 14 days ... I look more than 14 days a day. Thank you!!
-
@Gulaschsuppe EU Store support told me there is no more stock coming this month
-
.... then I will probably have to look for another alternative .... what a shame, I am very disappointed. If I look at www.ebay.com, there are hundreds of Alien routers being offered and sold. And none in Europe ...
-
It's as hard to find as it name implies
