Custom channel selection
-
So I went into advanced settings to switch channels, and I'm a bit confused. It says that it selected channel 36 for the 5ghz, but all my devices are showing they're connected to channel 149. Also, I don't think channel 36 is even available at 80mhz bandwidth.
The dropdown also doesn't even have channel 149 available to select.
Am I missing something or is this a bug?
The second screenshot showing the channel is from Ubiquiti's own Wifiman app.

Hi @dani82 - the 5 GHz channel selection in the app is for the 5.2 GHz band WiFi-5 Additional 5 GHz radio option
Manual channel selection is not currently available for the 5.8 GHz WiFi-6 radio
AmpliFi have indicated that manual channel selection in the upper 5.8 GHz band should come in a future update, but no time frame has been provided yet
-
@Derek-Saville I think you meant the other way around right? The selection appears to be only for wifi6. The non-wifi6 clients are all connected on channel 149.
-
@dani82 No he is correct, there is no channel selection for the wifi6 5GHz channels.
-
@Mike-P strange, because my macbook pro is connected on channel 149 and that is not configurable.
And my macbook is 4 years old and definitely not wifi 6.
-
@dani82 The wifi6 radio is backward compatible. It works with wifi5 devices just fine.

When are we going to be able to select a different channel for wifi6? I have other wireless electronics at home like home theaters interfering with the wifi6 only channel available. I have to use wif5 at the lower channels to be able to use the router. Please make this feature available to be able to change the wifi6 channel

@kriss1427sm27 Awaiting compliance approval for added spectrum.
-
@UI-AmpliFi yay! Does that mean we are getting DFS? The only 80mhz wide channels in my area are very crowded...
-
@UI-AmpliFi great thank you. I have been waiting for this feature ... Hopefully we will get it sometime in the fall.
-
@UI-AmpliFi any update on this feature? I am still having issue with wifi6 using the 149 channel and interference with my wireless hometheater system.
-
@kriss1427sm27 What kind of behavior are you seeing with the interference? A home theater system shouldn’t interfere much at all with Wi-Fi 5 (plenty of channel width) much less Wi-Fi 6, as it was developed primarily for heavily congested airwaves.

If his entertainment system operates on the same channels as the home WiFi 6 (channel 149) system when heavy downloads happen it can easily cause Wireless Audio on the same channel to cut out and sounds horrible. Please fix this ASAP to allow for some customization including DFS channel selection or even allowing the lower frequency channels 36-48.
