Enabling additional ssid (5Ghz) turns on 5200 Mhz radio

Alien 3.4.0
With Common SSID enabled, enabling router additional ssid 5Ghz turns on a radio at 5200 Mhz
-
Hi @Henry-Charlton - this is by design
The Alien is "tri-band" as follows with 3 radios...
- 2.4 GHz WiFI-6 (802.11ax) - cannot be disabled
- 5.8 GHz WiFi-6 (802.11ax) - cannot be disabled
- 5.2 GHz WiFi-5 (802.11ac) - optional via "Enable Additional 5 GHz Radio"
All 3 radios can share the Common SSID, or have independent unique SSID's, but the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz radios cannot be turned off

@Derek-Saville Thanks for the detailed reply.
Just to be clear, I did not enable Additional 5Ghz radio.
I enabled Router Additional SSID 5Ghz.

Hi @Henry-Charlton - in the "Router Additional SSID" section, if you enable 3rd option "5 GHz" this is referring to the 802.11ac only WiFi-5 radio on the 5.2 GHz band
This will turn on the 5.2 GHz radio for the additional SSID on a per mesh point basis, but you can still leave the "Additional 5 GHz Radio" option disabled and an associated 5.2 GHz meshed SSID (either Common, by leaving it blank or unique), for all mesh points in the network
