AmpliFi Alien Firmware v3.5.2
-
@Brett-S I was having similar issues with only 1 device, my daughter's Chromebook. I resolved it by enabling the additional 5ghz radio on the meshpoint only (to isolate issues with roaming between the Router and Meshpoint), and giving it a different SSID name. So far no issues, and she thinks it's pretty neat that she has her own dedicated WiFi SSID now with a special name just for her
.

@Wade-Christensen Didn’t consider trying that. Thanks for the tip. I did move back to 3.4.3 and my lollipop cameras have remained connected for 24 hours straight.
I will try this when the next firmware is released and see if it works.
Thanks again!

@Dhananjay-Suresh Have you notice any increase in latency since 3.5.2 ? (Doing the performance test within the app)
-
@René-Guitar No I haven’t. Nothing out of the ordinary.
-
@Dhananjay-Suresh-0 S Ok, just to be sure, when you test (speedtest) with the app, you get the same xx ms speed as with the previous version?
-
I’ve also discovered that some of my 2.4 ghz devices are flapping (on and off) and situation that date back to over a year ago (many versions as well).
As for me 3.5.2 is a step back. I’ll stay on 3.5.1 and will wait for the next release.

When Alien is meshed and additional wifi 5 radio is on I see that many of my wifi 6 devices such as samsung phones, playstation 5, etc are being moved to the additional 5ghz band. If additional radio is off, they are moved to the 2ghz band instead of 5ghz.
-
I see the same thing - hence why I’ve left the 5GHz AC band on. Hopefully 3.5.3 fixes this...
-
@René-Guitar Yes everything looks the same to me. I tested on the Wifi 6 5ghz band. I use different SSIDs for all bands because I require the devices to connect to specific bands.
-
I have simillar problem as @Alan-Thomas, but in my case only WiFi 5 devices was affected. NB or phones has many drops and have simillar notification Look like your connection to ... was lost. Rolling back to 3.5.1 and seems that works fine.- Thanks for rollback.
-
I have also noticed weaker signal strengths after this update.
-
I am unsure if it's the update or not, but recently I have been having issues keeping the near 1Gbps mesh link speed (Wifi 6 link) between my two Alien devices, and I have also had significant slowdowns with devices on the mesh access point (sub 300Mbps on an iPhone 12 Pro Max for example) even within a few feet of the mesh point. I am going to roll back to 3.5.1 and see if this fixes the speed problems until the next update and see if the speed issues are fixed.
-
@UI-AmpliFi this thread seems to be not as active as 3.5 / 3.5.1 which could either mean that 3.5.2 has fixed most issues (some edge cases still not resolved) or people have gone back 3.4.3
Can you share % of devices on 3.5.2?

Just got a brand new Alien, hardware revision 42.
No issues whatsoever on 3.5.2 with 20+ clients including Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android.Additional 5Ghz band enabled, all using common SSID.
