Using existing Amplifi HD as an extension of a new Alien router?
I have the Amplifi HD router with two mesh devices as my current setup. I want to use the Alien as my main router to take advantage of my gigabit internet through my modem. Is it possible to use the Amplifi HD hardware as APs with the Alien being the main router?

@Cameron-Banowsky I have not tried this with and AMPLIFI HD but I theory you should be able to if:
1- can connect your HD using Ethernet to the Alien (Alien LAN port to HD WAN port)
2- set your HD to bridge mode… see https://help.amplifi.com/hc/en-us/articles/220979347-Enabling-Bridge-Mode

I can confirm.. I have the HD with one MP in bridge mode after the Alien as main router. I will not being part of the mesh WiFi though.
Thank you all for the feedback. I got the Alien and I will test with my existing hardware and follow up on specifics and final outcome.
How did it work out for you?

One additional wireless backhaul option for utilizing an HD router/mesh point with an Alien is 3rd Party Router mode...
How to Add an AmpliFi Router or AmpliFi HD MeshPoint to a Third Party Router's Network
If you have a North American Alien with the Additional 5GHz Radio this is a good way to utilize it with a custom SSID
The HD router/mesh point still has to be managed separately but they rarely need it in my experience
If you have an HD kit you can contact AmpliFi support for the instructions on how to convert to standalone components
Bridge mode works good too for wired backhaul, just avoid channel interference manually if needed
@Derek-Saville The link you posted takes you to a general question page now, this is the new link: https://help.amplifi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016183893#3
@Frank-Broughton not how i really wanted. I ended up getting the Alien router + mesh then adding a second Alien router to have the mesh I really wanted.
It’s incredibly beastly.
@Cameron-Banowsky Excellent... Loving my Alien setup too!
@Frank-Broughton it really is the best plug-and-play home WiFi setup I've ever seen. I was considering migrating to Ubiquiti Unifi stuff, but I can't rationalize it since the Alien system achieves everything I need....
The bandwidth I get on my LAN is ridiculous. I just wish that the ethernet ports didn't cap at 1Gbps...I'm running Cat6 and the bottleneck isn't the wire it's the jack...
@Cameron-Banowsky On my way to Best Buy to pick up another Alien router in a few!!!
@Frank-Broughton Installed and running great..... great coverage in the whole house now.

I understand when not possible extend existing HD router with Alien router or mesh-point.
But why not possible extend Alien Router with HD router?
As I understand changes only in availability of extended 5GHz range for WiFi 6.
In other WiFi (4, 5) ranges features complete same.
Please add ability for Ethernet Wired Backhaul HD router to Alien Router.
I have no need to buy an expensive kit of alien router with mesh, when I already have HD router which is sufficient for most devices on my home network.
