Privacy policy equals no privacy for you or I

  • Re: Privacy- what data gets sent to ubiquiti or elsewhere?

The way the privacy polity is written it allows Ubiquiti to collect 'web requests' and cookies among other things. Time to check out the privacy policy for other routers.

I got started down this rat hole with the announcement of the Vilo Mesh Router that sells for $20US. It's about as striped down a router as you can imagine (can't even set the internal IP address range) and it appears to collect a ton of info. I've written them to clarify some of the language, but after reading the Ubiquiti policy (and note this is not just the consumer Amplifi line but Ubiquiti writ large) I'm a little in shock. Why on earth should my router send any info other than firmware version for firmware checks?
