I Need Some Help AmpliFI Alien As A Mesh
-
I installed my first AmpliFi Alien (AA) with no problems with my iPhone App.
I installed my 2nd AA and named it, however my App is not showing the name but shows what appears to be a Mac address and the 2nd AA is just showing as connected.. I cannot access the 2nd AA menu.
What's the problem folks?
Thanks in advance for your help and answers.

Hi @ahoodnick - just to confirm, you installed the 2nd AA by adding it as a wireless mesh point to your first AA by using the "Add to network" option in the app or the "Add to Mesh" option on the 1st Alien's LCD screen?
Note you will need to add it as a wireless mesh point before enabling Ethernet backhaul if that is the objective

@Derek-Saville
First of all thanks for your reply.Yes I did add the 2nd AA by adding it as a wireless mesh point to the first AA by using the "Add to network" option in the app or the "Add to Mesh" option on the 1st Alien's LCD screen?.
I will peruse the link that you provided and see where I went wrong.
Thanks again.

Hi @ahoodnick - do you know if the new Alien was on the same firmware release as the 1st primary Alien router?
Sometimes a firmware mismatch can cause issues with RAMPs

I purchased the 2 AA together so I suspect that they were the same firmware. The installation of the 1st AA updated to the current version but the 2nd AA did not.

Hi @ahoodnick - I personally would remove the 2nd AA from the mesh, factory reset it, update it to the latest firmware to match the main AA router, and then go through the standalone wireless mesh point installation process again
And the way I would I update the firmware would be to actually install it as a new separate router to confirm it is fully functional with no abnormal behavior or other issues, and then factory reset it again before installing it as a RAMP
But you could also just factory reset it and try again without updating the firmware as a quick test...

Sorry I could not get back to you much earlier. My ISP is [Starlink](link https://www.starlink.com/satellites), Elon Musk's Satellite Service and there were some issues with the signal last weekend.
Thanks for your advice. I followed your advice and was able to set up the device as a stand alone.
