Barely Any to No Signal Suddenly
-
Hi everyone,
Just came home to notice my WiFi on the fritz. Noticed none of the extenders were connected and the signal was very low on my PC, shows as one bar or just the dot on Windows. I rebooted multiple times, tried changing bands, no luck. I can barely connect with my PC that's three feet from the main hub and my phone doesn't even show the network. Any idea what I can do to fix this?
Thanks.

Saw your post after I posted mine (https://community.amplifi.com/topic/5136/wifi-consistently-dropping). Having similar issues. No clue what to do at this point.

Probably not what you want to hear but I didn't have the time to bother troubleshooting it anymore so I just bought another one... and now everything works perfectly. I think it nuked itself or something, it was extremely hot to the touch. I would say almost twice as hot as the new one is currently running at.

So you just purchased a new extender or a whole new router as well?

I bought the whole new kit with the router and two extenders. I couldn't find just the base and needed it working ASAP. The extenders weren't the issue for me. Something with the wifi chip in the router was the issue since anything directly connected to the router via Cat6 was working fine. The WiFi just couldn't go more than a few feet. Seeing as I made no configuration changes, I didn't see how it could be anything but a hardware issue. Plus side I now have two more extenders I can put somewhere around the house, I think. Unless they are hard-coded to the base they came with.

Recently we made a change in our strategy and allow to unpair meshpoints from the kit, so they can be adopted to new setup. Please reach out to our support team (help@amplifi.com) and they will guide you through.
In the future, if you have such issues we suggest reaching out to our support team and follow the directions. If it would be a hardware issue we would replace the units within the warranty period.

I'll reach out about the mesh points. I had the system for just under two years so it's out of warranty.
