Hardware NAT breaks VPN
-
I have a VPN/proxy running on my NAS and if I enable hardware NAT I cannot reach it.
The NAS has a remote access app, and even with hardware NAT turned on I can access the NAS remotely. But the standard port forwarding to the VPN service will not work.
Turn off hardware NAT and I can instantly access the VPN again.
The NAS uses port 5000 and the VPN service uses the standard L2TP ports.
Any ideas?

can confirm that disabling hardware nat makes the vpn service works

If I had to bet I would say that it is handling port forwarding differently between the two methods.
