HF amateur radio transmissions shut down the Amplifi HD
-
Hello,
I have an issue where transmitting on HF, any band, will cause the Amplifi HD to shut down. The SSID will shut down and if I go down and look at it, it will show that the cable between the modem and the Amplifi is unplugged. Power cycling the router returns it to operation. This is a low power HF radio, less than 5 watts.

Well, it just now happened again and I have not been transmitting all day. Looking at other threads here, I see that I am experiencing something similar to what others are reporting. So maybe it was just bad timing and I accredited the radio for a problem that others are also having now.

@stephen-emert Can you please share the link to the community posts you found where others have reported a similar issue?
I can't recall any similar issues where the AmpliFi router shows that the cable has been unplugged, rather just that performance dropped and the unit had to be power cycled.
Can you also please generate support files and reference this community thread and "Brett" in the email?
AmpliFi App> Router Icon> Support Info
Thank you

@stephen-emert Apparently there is some RF leakage from your transceiver. Please check antenna SWR and coaxial connection quality. Also, do you have any RF suppression filter between your transceiver and power outlet? It's better to use separate outlet or line to power IT stuff.

@UBNT-Brett All of these sound similar to me:
https://community.amplifi.com/topic/800/amplifi-router-disconnects-from-modem
https://community.amplifi.com/topic/731/wireless-connection-keeps-crashing/2
https://community.amplifi.com/topic/441/have-to-reboot-amplifi-every-1-3-days/15I may be seeing issues from both. The HF rig I am using is only 5 watts and the frequencies I am talking about are:
160m 1.840 Mhz
80m 3.573 Mhz
40m 7.074 Mhz
30m 10.136 Mhz
20m 14.074 Mhz
17m 18.100 Mhz
15m 21.074 Mhz
12m 24.915 Mhz
10m 28.074 Mhz
6m 50.313 MhzLike I was saying, this continued to happen on days when I was not using my radio, so it is hard for me to point to it as the sole cause. It seems like the unit just locks up. No SSID is transmitted and it shows that image on the screen.
I sent the logs in to support after the latest crash. The support ticket is #82081. I was hoping the logs might point to something obvious.

@dmitrijs-ivanovs At the time, I was out on my deck using the rig portable (it is battery powered) and an MFJ multiband walk-about antenna. I was at least 20 feet from the router with a block and brick wall between me and the Amplifi.

@stephen-emert Looks like your HF radio has no relationship to Amplifi problem.
Please upgrade your Amplifi to the latest firmware version - just press "upgrade" in smartphone App or directly on the router screen.
